I had a fantastic run today and even broke some personal records.

Besides my first 14 days in a row, I ran my fastest 13-miler ever (8:26 avg. pace).  It was a progression run, last 4 miles averaged 8:04 (coupla 7:59s in there).

Lastly, you know how in the previous entry I said I was going to do 12, which would bring me a new mileage record of 59.25?  Well, I brazenly wrote that, thinking “I refuse to buckle under the pressure of making that 59.25 a 60, just to make it that beautiful, even, divisible by 10 number”.  Yeah, right.  New mileage record today: 60.25 (still uneven, but at least in the 6-0′s).

So today it’s Eagles vs. Cardinals (so exciting!) and we’re getting a big fat, greasy pizza (even more exciting!).  Then tomorrow I’m going to do a bona fide slow recovery run so that I can get some good intervals in on Tuesday.  Yeah, I’m continuing the “streak” though I’ll no longer be thinking of it as one, just me running until I feel like I need a break.

Beyond that?  Who knows.  At this moment, life is good and that’s all that matters.

  • Ha ha. I know the feeling. This morning I ended my run, looked at the display: 15:55. Hmm, If I just go round the block it could be 16.., NOOOO! Garmin-itis begone! So will the slow recovery be from the pizza? :)

  • Save me some greasy pizza. My favorite!

I started a running streak has of Saturday. I got laid off so I plan to run every day till I go back to work. Hoping for a short streak.

I had a great race today at the Frosty 5 miler. Denver was not Frosty today so that rocked!!! We had sunshine and weather in the 40s. I had a pretty good run despite recurring stomach issues. I can’t seem to get my good habits back for eating. Anyone I was shooting for 55 mins and did it in 54:21. YEA! February’s goal is 52 mins with a stretch goal of 50. Time to do the intervals!! I will think of all you speedsters as I practice.

I got the greasy pizza also but we are rooting for the Steelers!!! My hubby’s is from Erie, PA and that his team.

    Congrats on the streak!!

Jim, lol on the Garminitis. Funny about the recovery, I’m doing it because I figure I should, we’ll see how behaved I am tomorrow. The pizza was great, btw.

Bruce, that’s awful news about the lay-off! Hugs to you and yes, may it be a short streak.

Christi, yay! What a fantastic race, beating your goal like that, I’m very impressed. I hope the Steelers are having a good game, the Eagles are sucking.

  • God job Christi! Those goals are gonna fall!
Who are these Steelers and Eagles? (Ducks under a shower of hurled running shoes) :)

  • dang girl, you are getting some good mileage in! def worth eating lots of pizza for.

  • Jackie:

Congrats Flo on the mileage PR. Sorry the Pickle didn’t happen. I was so anxious to see how that went. Nice progression run, great job!
