Today was a small first for me, the first time running 9 consecutive days – and with some good mileage, to boot (54.1 miles in the last 7 days). May I just say that with every step I took in the beaming sun today, I was thankful for my bones, muscles, joints, lungs, eyes, ears, all of it, for working the way they’re supposed to. At my age especially, I don’t take any of this for granted.
Tomorrow will be a rest day due to another medical voiceover job from hell, followed by a fun commercial voiceover at another studio (pretty rare to have 2 jobs in one day), so I won’t get a chance to run. Then Tuesday I’m off to NYC for the day and evening, so probably won’t run either, unless I go out really early, but I’m due for a cutback so no sweat it if I don’t.
And that’s my thrilling Sunday post…hey, they can’t all be excitement personified.

54.1 miles in 7 Days! awesome you definitely earned a day or two off! I dont know how you do it. 40 MPW 2 weeks back to back and 38.3 this past week is about all I can handle right now!
what have your long runs looked like distance wise the past few weeks? Just curious!
My long runs this winter haven’t even been long – 12s and 13s, since I wasn’t in a training cycle. I do manage to get a 9 or 10-miler in mid-week though, and will keep/grow that as my mid-long. Then by May, for Broad St (my goal race), my longs will be 17s, which I’ll keep there for a month until Pfitz starts in June.
Since I’m not doing a Spring Half, I don’t need to do anything longer than 17, but that’ll leave me well-primed for Steamtown training.
Btw, as for “how I do it”, I don’t have a full-time job and a kid, so you have my admiration completely.
Nice week Flo! I am gearing up for a spring marathon and two halves, but my mileage is only in the low 20′s right now. If I don’t get the mileage where it belongs, I can turn it into 3 halves, so no worries.
I don’t envy you the medical voice over, but the other one sounds like fun! You deserve a couple of off days from running, sounds like.
Tobey, you’ve got a rockin’ race season comin’ up! 3 Halfs is a plateload unto itself, not to mention if one of those ends up a Full. Here’s wishing you a safe training period with a steady mileage buildup with a PR or two for your trouble.
