My Running Anniversary
Today marks 3 years from the day I ventured outside for the my first taste of the Couch-to-5K running plan. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought I’d still be running now, much less enmeshed in it as thoroughly as this. Life unfolds in the most wonderful, unforeseen ways.
New Video – Running Jackets!
This was a fun one to do (or rather, to edit). In the spirit of America’s Next Top Model, I tried my best to be Fierce and there’s no question I rocked it bigtime. I hope you enjoy the tips offered as well as the high quality fashion show. Featured are the Sugoi Hydrolite rain jacket, and my winter running jackets, a Gap fleece and the Asics Storm Shelter jacket.

Love the video! You crack me up. That blue Asics jacket is a very nice color, I’m not sure why you don’t care for it too much. My running jacket and running vest are both hideously bright fluorescent yellow. Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb, but that’s the point, right?
Keep those videos coming. So informative and I love seeing your personality come through. I’m coming to Philly just to be able to run with you one of these days.
Thanks girl! About the color, I’m all about the dark shades so that blue is bright for me but it was on sale so I’m ok with it.
Yellow would be a bit more of a wakeup call than I could handle, lol, but great for safety. You bet we’ll run together soon, maybe some races in the Summer and Fall.

Congrats on your 3 year anniversary – I can’t believe it’s been 3 years already! Seems like only yesterday that I came over for our first run together and you were sporting the pantyhose and wind pants combo. You’ve come a long way baby!
So much love for you, Lara, thanks for helping me become a runner!! I can’t imagine doing that first race without you holding my hand, it was like being in another world entirely. And all those runs we did together while I was figuring out this whole running deal…it’s true, it doesn’t feel like 3 years at all. You’re a great friend, hope you find time around cycling to run with me again soon! Hugs.

I’m just trying to imagine conditions that require the wearing of fleece, and that’s not even the warmest jacket you own! Nice editing.

Thanks! Those are my male model poses, acquired from a childhood spent poring over J.C.Penny catalogs. “how you doin” is the perfect description, lol.
Good tips. I’ve been constructing a chart of what clothes to wear at what temperatures myself. One thing that I’ve found helps me there is to substract about 15 degrees for raceday. For example, on Sunday, the forecast says 36, so I’ll be wearing what I would for a 51 degree training run.

Smart point you bring up. I find I wear less on raceday too, what with the added effort and adrenaline making more heat.
OK can’t watch the video yet because Chris is working in complete silence in the other room, but CONGRATS on your anniversary. I can’t believe that it has only been three years. Flo that makes me a little mushy…..what an awesome (even all the awesomely sucky stuff too) three years. The stories and journey you have taken is just amazing!

Pressure no, but it’s my FloTime! Finally just got to watch, and I started grooving to the music I LOVED it. Aren’t these getting to be so much fun? Next thing you know you are going to be a YouTube star!
Reviewing your content why-oh-why have I not thought of logging what I wear outside on certain temps, ugh. What a simple concept that somehow I have missed. Since as I am watching your video I am thinking about what I wore the last time it was in the 20′s and would this or that be too warm , or not warm enough. Good stuff Flo, good stuff!
