Yahoo~the "magic pills" were something my chiro also recommended (along with rest, foam rolling, etc) when I had my ITBS flare-up last year, and although I don't take them now (I figured out that my shoes at the time had a lot to do with it in my case), I think there's definitely something to them.

Ewen, lol, sorry about those flippant 11-miler remarks. I hang out on the marathon training board of Runners World, so I get self-conscious. Totally off topic, we saw Ganga Queen last night, an HBO documentary about that Aussie girl who was accused of taking 10 lbs of pot into Bali and is sitting there in jail for the next 20 years. OMG, the description for the documentary said "harrowing tale" and it was in all respects. I think the step-brother did it.

Runforlife, cool!! Keep waving to me a couple more times till I get your face stuck in my head...I am horrible with faces & names (and trivia and history and remembering movie and book plots...great with lyrics though). :)

As long as they don't say "Howdie Doodie" too.

That's great news. I think you've missed an opportunity to pick up some ad revenue for the blog. Another secret pill worth trying is this one:
http://www.mobicosa.com/
Recommended to me by a 70+ marathoner (who ran 2:40s as a young'n).

And stop dissin on 11 mile long runs. 18k IS a long run for me!

RunningGeezer, if it works as expected you'll have to rename yourself RunningPhoenix. That's excellent that you're trying it too, between the handful of readers here that are testing it out, we'll have a pretty nice little data pool. I also love that your hand surgeon relative swears by it.

My friend Kat, with whom I ran the Lehigh Valley Half in May, is a serious horsewoman and has been giving her horses glucosamine and MSM since the early 90s. She says you can always look to whatever supplements horses get to find what's ahead for humans in the next 5 years. I thought that was really interesting.

Flo: Very happy for you, injuries suck! It's funny, when I'm injured, I always feel as if the end is near for my running career. At 54, every day I can run is magical. You seem to be blessed with some kind of gift that keeps you going and at a high level. I started taking the magic pills yesterday and hoping for the best. I heard about glucosamine over 20 years ago from a relative who is a hand surgeon, he swears by it. I'm not into quack supplements but this stuff may have some merit.
