80 degrees and humid but what else should I expect?

Today’s Pfitzinger madness entailed 9 miles with 4@tempo, so I did 4 at regular pace, then the 4 tempo miles (8:13, 8:03,8:04,7:55 for 8:03avg), then one last mile back at normal pace. Nothing amazing, but considering the temps, I’m happily satisfied.

What else is going on? Well, I do have something in the works that I’ll be ready to announce (hopefully) by the end of the week. It’s keeping me excited and busy and industriously occupied, but you’ll just have to live with that tease for now.

Oh, I had a depressing shorts-searching expedition the other day, where I tried on tons of shorts looking for a cute pair of black ones, but it was a scene from Goldilocks, everything was too big, too small or fit weird. So I ordered 4 pair online, thinking one of them has to work. Et Voila! These Reebok shorts were the hands-down winners. A little pricey but they have a back pocket and a great inseam length. I’ll be taking them out for my mid-long on Thursday, so we’ll see how they do. I’m mistrustful after the Nike Pacer fiasco.

But the funny thing about this is I sheepishly asked my UPS guy yesterday, who is just the sweetest soft-spoken fellow, “Do I get the most deliveries on my block? I do, don’t I?”. He told me that I’m tied with two others, which cracked me up. At least I’m not the official worst. Yet.

I was reading your blog, got up for a minute, the husband sits down, and says, “who’s the cutie?” :) I told him how you run, and how Nick cycles and he said, “they sound like us!” Yup! :)

Which Pfitz plan are you doing, and what week are you on?

  • Flo:

How sweet is that? Say hi to hubby. :)

I’m doing a modified 18/55, on week 13. The main modification I’m doing is elongating the long runs slightly so I can fit in a couple more 20s before the race. I’m slated for a 19-miler this weekend. Fun, fun, fun…

  • Pokey:

I’m doing that plan too, but I’ve modified it to have a 22 miler as my last long run, vs. the 20. Do you run that far alone? I have to hand it to you, if you do. I could do it, but I prefer to run with other people if I’m going that far. Towards the end I need to have someone listen to me bitch! LOL!

  • Flo:

Cool! What week are you on? I’m going to do a 22 near the end, too. Should be a good confidence builder.

Yeah, I love being alone, often to my detriment. But you’re in a rural area, so I’d probably want company, too. My route has lots of people/athlete/nature watching so I’m always occupied. I think it’d drive me nuts being stuck talking to someone for that many hours (unless it was you). :D

I’m on week 15. So far I’m really enjoying it; I didn’t think I would because I hate being tied to a schedule, and I like to run how I feel. But, I’ve discovered I can be flexible with it, so it’s all good! And it’s nice of you to say–however, I find I don’t do much talking because I’m too busy breathing trying to keep up with the others, which is a good thing! I find it hysterical when someone will ask me what I’m going to be doing for the rest of the day (after an 18 mile run). Riiggghhtt! Like I’m going to actually be “doing” something other than soaking in the hot tub and praying for a quick death. Given your sense of humor, quick wit, jovial personality and all around loveliness, I think you’d fit right into our little group :D
