I’m not racing tomorrow – my leg is not right, it hurts. I shut today’s run down at 1.3 and walked home. It’s a real bummer because I was feeling so non-anxious about the race, genuinely looking forward to it but there’s too much I want to accomplish right now so I’m not going to be stupid and risk making it worse.
The plan is to take the weekend off completely then do a short run on Monday. If it’s not appreciably better by then, I’ll make my first ever appointment with an ART or PT person.
Later, folks, have a great weekend.

Ugh, sorry, Flo. Glad you’re being smart about this. What will be will be. Best wishes.
I swear by ART and if you lived here in Colorado I would totally hook you up with my gal. Heal quickly!
UGH, isn’t that always the way?? I second the recommendation for ART…
Thanks gals. My friend gave me the name of a local ART person so if I’m still not good by Monday, I’ll make the appointment. I’m hoping that 2.99 days off will have done the trick.
Eww…sorry to hear that! Hope it heals up soon, or the ART/PT person works their magic. I know for me, massages are a must sometimes!
Positive thoughts:)
Gah! At least you shut it down promptly.
I’ve found ART pretty helpful, though it seems to work best when combined with dry needling.
ART has worked great for me – but hopefully a few days off is all you need!
So the niggle turned into a show-stopper. Sorry to hear it Flo. Get better.
Get better!! Way to be smart about resting.
GGGRRRRR!!!!! I am so sorry. I know it’s frustrating and heck to be in tip-top shape and hit a speed bump. Better to take care of it now, though… Saying prayers and wishes for healing!
How annoying! Sorry about your leg and I hope all it needs is a few days of rest.
Sorry to hear that Flo. Hopefully the days off do the trick and you can spend the PT money on some new shoes.
Coming from a PT- hard, but smart decision! It will pay off in your ability to run more races in the future
. Good luck! Maybe I’ll see you at a race some day (well I’ll be way behind you hehe).
