Apropos of nothing, here's a story from my morning paper - front page, no less. A "pretty good runner" beat the elites in the Nike Womens Marathon, but, sorry, no prize for you:

The San Jose Half was the tuneup race. I learned two things:
I should recalibrate my training to VDOT 44 (Daniels) and plan seriously for that BQ.
I should NOT wear lightweight shoes for long races. ;) I was probably lucky to get away with soft tissue damage, which is healing nicely. It's back to the old reliables for the time being (New Balance 882)

Sounds like a fun little jaunt in the park Dec 7. Lol, I thought maybe a tune-up race might be on the calendar. :D

Oh, nothing much, unless you count the CIM marathon on Dec 7. A nice little jog with a bit of downhill. So relaxing.

Me too, I love doing strides and mile intervals are evil incarnate. Pfitz had strides that week anyway, so maybe I'll be a good girl and just do that. Something about races, they always freak me out and I always want to eek out anything I can preceding them. Maybe that's my message to do more races so they're not such a heart-flutterer.

What's your next race? Anything coming up soon?

Good point. I guess the MM's don't do much speed during a marathon season. I'm a big fan of strides. They remind your legs about fast turnover without introducing much stress. Kinda fun to do, too (compared to, say, mile intervals - ugh!)
