Nothing exciting happened between yesterday and today but I thought I’d change the vibe to something more uplifting than yesterday’s visit to the dark side.
Had a nice 12 this afternoon, 8:30s, nothing special but it was really beautiful outside, some threatening clouds overhead and a bit of wind to carry me home. That finishes off a 298 mile month. Not a whole lot of quality, but there was that Half on the 20th which required some schedule changing. Here’s what went on, you can click it for a larger version:
Note that the mileage listed is what I actually went but some of the workout notes are a tad off so “3 miles easy” at the end of a run might actually have been 2.65 or whatever depending on where I ended up in the park after the quality part…I was just too lazy to correct the calendar after I got home (my detailed logs are kept in SportTracks).
That’s about all I can come up with today, I’ll see you in a couple days, my sweet chickadees.

What, you couldn’t run 2 more miles to even it out? Ah, yes, you’re not a slave to the round numbers. So evolved! Congrats on a great month!
ps: To add to the positivity, I have to pass along YET ANOTHER compliment for one of your shirts. I wore your “I’m slow because…” shirt during my afternoon recovery run and when I was waiting in line at the grocery store (had to buy some onions), the woman behind me in the checkout line told me she liked my shirt. And that I didn’t look like I was very slow. Much love, chica!
Barb, can I just put you in my pocket and carry you around? I swear, you’re good for morale, keep it up!
And great month for you, missy, 276 is big mileage to be very proud of! Isn’t it funny how these numbers last year would have seemed so daunting but now, not so much. Here’s to continued forward progress.
A pity you guys aren’t up with the rest of the modern world – 479 kilometres sounds much more impressive.
The 8.88 on the Tuesday of the half is a nice number
I know, makes a round 54, but you didn’t count your warm-up or warm-down for the race. What’s going on there?
Thanks for your comment about mental strength – I’ll think strongly about that during the race!
Hey Flo, great training. I just wanted to pass on some good news to you. In the last week, I have made some great mental strides that I have translated into awesome running. I actually was on track to run a mile in 8:20. That would have been my fastest ever and it is in part thanks to you. Your blog shows me on a daily basis that women our age, and I don’t mean old!, can and do run fast. Thanks for the being that beacon of light that I am racing towards!!!!!
Flo – See, you’re a beacon of light, so welcome back from the dark side. Out monthly totals are within a few miles of each other, although I didn’t taper for a half in the middle of it. Speaking of which, did you really do 12.75 the day before PDR?
Oh wait, I was reading the wrong row. Never mind…
(I love being able to edit after posting)
Good to see your back from the dumps, down in them that is. You had a great month. I sense October will be stellar.
Ewen, wondered if anyone would notice that about no warmup/cool down listed. First off, I never do cooldowns after races, I always say that’s my present to myself after a race…I get to stop running. The warmup that day was short, about 1/2 mile and I didn’t log it on the Garmin.
I really enjoyed that blog post of yours with the “should I go left or right” question. It’s like life.
Christi, I’m so happy for you!! Your hard work is paying off in spades. You are too sweet with the compliments, thank you a million times over, that warms my cockles like nothing else could (well, some other things can, but not quite in the same way).
Jim, you cutie. You beat me on mileage so I respectfully bow to your greatness. You know you could probably install the comment editing plugin on your site if you wanted (though not sure since it’s not self-hosted), it’s this thing.
Mir, congrats on your mileage too, babydoll, you beat me by .9, lol. Great job! A fabulous October to you too.
Excellant month!
Great job on the mileage! You’re going strong. Keep up the good work, dear!
Awesome month! Good job
Those are some big numbers. Nice work! You have a lot more variance in your weekly routines (which day your off day is, etc.) than I do. Is that intentional? Or just the way it happened because of non-running plans?
Robert, I don’t usually take days off at all, when you see them in my schedule it’s because I really needed it. Had to take 2 last month.
